Sesame Teriyaki Glazed Beef, Green Tea-Wasabi Noodles, Sauteed Baby Corn, Plum Wine Sauce

Servings: 4 plates

1-4oz package Popcorn Shoots

Teriyaki Glazed Beef:
4 flank steaks

Marinate Steak for at least 2 hours. Grill or sear steaks until medium rare.

Cut into squares and toss with teriyaki glaze. Finish with sesame seeds.

Steak Marinade:
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp minced ginger
4 tbsp mirin or rice wine
1 cup soy sauce
½ cup water
½ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp sambol
2 tsp white sesame seeds
Salt & pepper to taste

Combine ingredients in a saucepan on medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.

Teriyaki Glaze:
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp water

Mix cornstarch and water. Heat sauce on medium heat and add cornstarch water mixture. Simmer until thickened.


Marinate Steak for at least 2 hours. Grill or sear steaks until medium rare. Cut into squares and toss with teriyaki glaze. Finish with sesame seeds.

Sautéed Baby Corn:
1 can baby corn
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp soy sauce
Salt & pepper to taste

Heat a large sauté pan. Add sesame oil. When the oil is smoking, add the baby corn. Sauté briefly until caramelized, add soy sauce, salt and pepper.

Green Tea-Wasabi Noodles:
1 egg, beaten

½ tsp salt
1 cup AP flour
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp wasabi powder
2 tbsp green tea powder (matcha)

In a medium sized bowl, combine flour, salt, wasabi and green tea powder. Make a well in the flour, add the slightly beaten egg, and mix. Mixture should form a stiff dough. If needed, stir in 1 to 2 tablespoons water.On a lightly floured surface, knead dough for about 3 to 4 minutes. With a pasta machine or by hand roll dough out to desired thinness. Use machine or knife to cut into strips of desired width. Add to salted boiling water until cooked.

Plum Wine Sauce:
2 red plums, peeled

1 cup plum wine
½ cup white sugar

Cut plums in quarters and puree in a blender with enough plum wine to blend. Add plum puree to a small sauce pan with the rest of the plum wine and sugar. Simmer until thickened.  

Plate​​ all components and finish with Gourmet Sweet Botanicals Popcorn Shoots!
